The Friends of the Museum in Beaufort has a program that offers members of the Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum and the museum community opportunities to travel to foreign destinations to learn about the natural world and other maritime cultures.
The program features small group travel, eco-tours and maritime experiences. For the Friends, these programs provide an additional source of income through commissions from the tour company for each traveler or a donation from each traveler to the Friends of the museum.
Sailing excursions, river cruises, and land/cruise packages are offered periodically. Retired museum Education Curator JoAnne Powell is an integral part of the selection and execution of the travel offerings and acts as tour guide on many of our excursions. JoAnne has led museum sponsored trips all over the globe during the past 25 years.
